Shiva Ratri ended today. Spent the night in puja and japa, purely for Siva this time, sometimes its nice to bring in a Vaishnava context, however, as the mood takes me Shiva is worthy of worship in his own right on this night. This has become a most auspicious occasion to celebrate, the one that over the years has yielded immediate tangible results. It is always a mark of change, becoming part of a personal annual cycle that inevitably sees a resurgence of spirit and creativity following the event. ‘May Shiva be pleased’.
Kotirudrasamhita – Shiva Purana
O Mahadeva, favourably disposed to the devotees, be merciful to me, thanks to this Vrata. O Shiva, this Vrata is performed according to my ability. O Lord, if it is deficient in any respect let it become perfect by your favour. I have performed partly in ignorance and partly in knowledge Japa and worship and other things. May these be fruitful, O Shiva, by your mercy.
